Shikoku

Will Sakura bloom
Sighing with each thought of spring
No henro this year

Just finished watching part 2 of a four-part series on NHK World TV, Japan's public service station, documenting a woman's trip around the henro trail. Sigggghhhhh.... How can a goofy old man be homesick for an island he has never even lived on?

Wow, David. Something in the universe lined up tonight! I read your post and immediately started researching the program details. I was lucky enough to identify it as an episode of Journeys in Japan, and lo and behold, it was being repeated by NHK World online at 20:30 PST tonight! My wife and I watched it enthralled. I was gabbing excitedly to her about all the places I recognized, even seeing Minshuku Kochi-ya I stayed at across the street from Sekkei-ji. Can't wait for the next episode. Thank you!! Rest assured, you weren't the only "homesick" old guy watching this program tonight. Blessings!

Glad you got to see it. Yes, "enthralled" would have been the appropriate word here as well. You did see that part three wasn't coming out until May, didn't you?

Yes, I've made a note to keep a close eye on the NHK schedule starting in early May. Wouldn't do to miss it, especially as the site doesn't seem to provide access to past shows.
