Day 6: Kōnan City to Kōchi City

Woke up this morning to a pouring rain. A downpour. A street flooding, field innundating, town soaking storm.

Checked out after breskfast and was out the door in full rain gear and umbrella just after 7:00. After an hour and a half it had slowed to just rain. By two hours it was a drizzle. Shortly after that the sun was out and i was baking under clear skies. I put on suntan lotion, but i think it was too late--my face and arms are a nice shade of red.

Visited temples 28, 29, and 30 today. Am spending the night in a fancy western  hotel that soecializes in western style weddings for Japanese couples. They offer rooms to walking henro (people actually walking the Shikoku Pilgrimage) for half price.

A few pictures from today:

The Daishi Hall at Temple 28.

Rice paddys along the road.

And seversl generations of trail markers all in the same place. The old stone marker with the finger pointing the way; an arrow made from tape; a picture of a henro with an arrow; and the brand new official sign with the temple name, distance, and an arrow.

Tomorrow on to temples 31-33.
